Forms that adapt to the work
A reusable form renderer and administrative builder, from configurable pages and fields to saved responses and PDF exports.
The context
A community-services application needed to support several kinds of forms. A shared form model allowed the interface and response handling to work from configurable definitions.
What I worked on
- Implemented multi-page form rendering, response creation and editing, and navigation between form pages.
- Added an administrative builder for creating and editing form definitions, pages and field types.
- Connected frontend components to backend services and persisted form structures and responses.
- Added response PDF generation with field-specific formatting, readable option labels and Unicode fonts.
Lessons learned
The same answer needs to make sense while someone enters it, when another person reviews it, and when it appears in a document. The renderer, stored model and PDF output needed to agree.
